Ifikratis Kokkidis {Ιφικράτης Κοκκίδης} (1833-1922). Colonel. He was a methodical man, a citizen of the world and highly respected in the Greek community as he was honored for his heroism. He was in charge of the reception and accommodation of the foreigners who visited Athens for the 1896 Olympic Games. He was the Chief of Staff of the Greek Army Corps that entered Ottoman-occupied Thessaly {Thessalia ~ Θεσσαλία} in 1876. He was fluent in at least three languages and since 1890 he was teaching Military History in the Hellenic Army Academy The link opens in a new window.. He retired after the Olympic Games, at the age of 63, in June 1896.
