The flag of the Heptanese State during the French domination (1800-1814).

The flag of the Heptanese State (Ionian Islands) during the French domination (1800-1814). It was the first official flag of the "Hellenic State" after the fall of Constantinople. It was raised for the first time on the Acropolis of Corfu on January 13th, 1801. It contains Saint Marc's winged lion.

The flag of the Heptanese State (Ionian Islands) during the British domination (1814-1864) [Georgios I]. The British flag was added in 1817. Saint Marc's winged lion holds the Gospel, as seven lances are popping out of it.
